Leadership & Entrepreneurism

Create a Teachable Moment. Though fictional, Stark Industries is a representation of the level of success one can achieve in life mastering both engineering and business skills. It is a rare combination for which the world will reward you handsomely.

Create a Teachable Moment. The villain for the first Iron Man movie is Obadiah Stane, Tony Stark’s own business partner. Learning the hard way that your business partner is not who you think they are is one of the most painful things about owning or running a company. If you can do it yourself then do not find a cofounder or a partner – it’s better not to run the risk.

Play

Dress up like Iron Man for halloween, a cosplay event, a homemade film, or just to enjoy The Avengers in the theater that much more. Consider inspiration available online for how to do it.

Social Sciences

Psychology

Teach: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is common among veterans. Tony Stark experiences this ever since the battle to save New York City from Loki and the Chitauri aliens, but it got much worse after the rise of Ultron (powered by the artificial intelligence he created) results in the deaths of thousands of civilians. His PTSD resulted in inability to sleep soundly, avoid panic attacks, or keep a steady relationship with Pepper Potts due to the trauma of battle and grief of his mistakes. Eventually, he restores his psychological health but never fully overcomes his grief. With great power comes great responsibility – psychologically, more than anything.

Virtues

Create a Teachable Moment. Sacrifice: The noteworthy character development made by Tony Stark in the first Avengers movie is turning from his self-absorbed self into a real hero. (Massive spoiler alert) At the end of the movie, he chooses to personally direct the nuclear bomb through the portal into the alien base at the probable risk of not surviving. (Another massive spoiler alert) At the end of End Game, he risks everything to steal the infinity stones from Thanos and… you’ll have to see it.

Create a Teachable Moment. Humor: The character Tony Stark shows the power of comic relief in both fiction and life. All of us will engage in weighty matters in our lives. A sense of humor will go a long way toward lightening the loads of everyone around you as well as for yourself.
